Kim Hopkins’ “A Bunch of Amateurs”

A Bunch of Amateurs (2022)

A terrific documentary that touches on community, covid, isolation, aging and the love of film; funny, moving and life affirming with a Northern lilt

I have a soft spot for films about the love of movies like “Cinema Paradiso” and “Spirit of the Beehive”, and this film falls into that category but this has an even closer connection to me as it’s set near me and deals with people with not just a passion for watching movies, but making them too. Universally, it has a lot to say about community, our shared trauma of covid, and aging.
